Our Story

Namaste! My name is Sarala and I am the co-founder of Mandala Traders alongside my late husband Surendra Manandhar. As Nepalese immigrants to Australia, we are inspired by the rich culture and history of craftsmanship from the talented artisans of our home country and India. When moving to Australia we wanted to bring along with us the culture embedded within the handicrafts created by local artisans. In doing so we also wanted to promote and sustain the traditional craftsmanship of Nepal and India.

Since our establishment in 1992, we have been committed to ethical sourcing and fair working conditions for the artisans who create our products. We go on trips and handpick the handicrafts in our collection to ensure that it reflects the character and charm of traditional techniques used by skilled artisans in village areas.

We are very passionate about our culture and empowering the talented craft of our locals through employment opportunities. With our curated collection of handcrafted home decor, elegant furnishings, and exquisite textiles made from natural fibre and silk, we hope to bring you a touch of cultural richness and authenticity.
